Frequently asked questions

Whether you are considering counselling, exploring tutoring or swim lessons, or wanting to know more about qualifications and funding, here are answers to help you prepare for your journey.

How do sessions work?

Sessions are tailored to each individual and the specific support you need. I offer both online sessions and face-to-face appointments in Orange, NSW. Swimming lessons take place in person at an agreed local pool.

What can I expect in my first session?

Our first session is all about getting to know you or your child in a relaxed environment. For counselling, we talk gently through what has been happening and your hopes for our time together. For tutoring and English language support, we review current strengths and areas where you would like help. For swimming, we discuss water comfort and experience before starting at an easy pace. You don’t need to have everything figured out beforehand—we take it one step at a time.

Can we do a brief chat before booking?

Yes! If you are new, we can arrange a free 15-minute online 'get to know me' chat. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, share your goals, and ensure we feel like a comfortable fit.

What services do you offer?

Grow, rise and thrive provides holistic support across all life stages, including professional counselling, academic tutoring, teaching English as a second language (ESL), and private swimming lessons.

What are your qualifications and professional registrations?

I hold a Bachelor of Teaching, a Master of Counselling, and a Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education. I am a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and hold certified training in Youth Mental Health First Aid with extensive experience assisting diverse learning needs.

Can I use Medicare or NDIS funding?

Counselling sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates. If you have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding, please let me know during your enquiry so we can discuss your goals and confirm funding eligibility before booking.

What should I bring to our first session?

For counselling, simply come as you are—there is no need to prepare or bring anything. For tutoring or ESL lessons, bringing recent schoolwork, reports, or specific learning materials can help us get started. For swimming lessons, remember your swimwear, towel, and goggles.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment or initial chat directly through our contact page, or reach out by email or phone to discuss suitable dates and times.
